Residency Project: The Venda Culture in Johannesburg by Mbavhalelo Nekhavhambe 2nd - 27th November 2015| Assemblage Studios- Fordsburg | JHB

Mbavhalelo Nekhavhambe – 2014 Gerard Sekoto Award winner - will start his 1 month residency on the 2nd of November in Johannesburg. The artist will produce a visual documentary that will showcase how distinctive Venda Culture is, full of vibrant colours, dance, food, pottery and wood crafting. A culture that is not only practised in Limpopo province but also in the cities like Johannesburg.

More about the Gerard Sekoto Award

The Gerard Sekoto Award has been running since 2004 with the support of the French Institute of South Africa in collaboration with ABSA, SANAVA, the Embassy of France in South Africa and the French cultural network of Alliances Françaises in Southern Africa.
