Presentation of the One Blood Festival 2012

As part of its mission to promote cultural diversity in Nelson Mandela Bay, the Alliance Française of Port Elizabeth supports the organization of the third One Blood festival*, which will take place at St George’s Park, on Saturday March 24, 2012.

This nonprofit music festival showcasing Jazz, Reggae, Hip Hop and Rock artists has been created with the aim of uniting and promoting the talents of Nelson Mandela Bay.
The One Blood Festival is a free outdoor concert, which brings together music lovers in the same public space and also contributes to the social and economic development of the city.

This year the Alliance Française is delighted to present a contemporary and free-style dance show of a high standard produced by Fana Tshabalala.

As part of the month of Francophonie, Philippe Guinet from the Association “Passeurs de mots”, will share several literary readings with the public.

As a foretaste of this festival, the One Blood screened a documentary tracing the history and accounts of the festival. Music, refreshments and snacks were on the program at the Alliance Française of Port Elizabeth, on Saturday 11 February 2012.

The next key event on the music scene in Port Elizabeth is the Fête de la musique in Richmond Hill, on Saturday 23 June, with national and international groups, such as Bongeziwe Mabandla and Braka.

The third One Blood festival will take place on Saturday 24 March 2012 at the Mannville Theatre, in St George’s Park, from 13:00 to 21:00. You will discover:

  • Shoe Lace: an Afro-Rock band from Motherwell
  • General Jazz club: a Jazz band from Zwide
  • True sight music: a Hip Hop band from the Northern areas
  • Umle: an Afro-soul band from Kwadwesi
