French trumpeter Pierre Dutot in Cape Town

French trumpeter Pierre Dutot
as part of Midweek Sessions
22 April at 19:30 | Cape Town

sessions pierre dutotMidweek Sessions at the Church on Greenmarket Square continues on 22 April with a special single session featuring visiting French trumpeter Pierre Dutot in concert with organist & local baroque specialist Erik Dippenaar.

Dutot has recorded over 80 cds and had a long and full career as both orchestral musician with the Orchestre National de Lyon and soloist across the globe.

In addition he is one of the most highly regarded trumpet teachers in France and he will be coming to Cape Town to work with local students and teachers in master classes at the South African College of Music, UCT, and Sans Souci School. Mr Dutot's visit is made possible through the generous support of the French Institute of South Africa, Association Musiquelaine France and the Alliance Française.

Erik Dippenaar is no stranger to the Baroque concert scene in Cape Town and had our audience in awe at his Midweek Session last year when he improvised on the magnificent organ.

This concert will be Dutot’s only solo recital with organ and will include works by Handel, Telemann, Widor, Dubois, Vivaldi, Gigout and more.

Venue: Methodist Church, Greenmarket Square, Cape Town
Tickets R100 and R80 for pensioners. Students R50.

More on the Midweek Sessions

‘Louise Howlett presents’ is a brand new concert experience with two pop-up Midweek Sessions in one evening. Classical works and easy listening jazz are performed side by side on one night under one roof at the Church on Greenmarket Square. Vocalist and concert manager Louise Howlett presents and performs in each session with pianist Albert Combrink, and there will be regular guest appearances by some of Cape Town’s finest classical and jazz musicians.
Be the first to hear a ‘sneak peek’ of new programmes being worked on, or enjoy old favourites being performed just for fun. Tickets are priced R60 for a session, or R100 for the full evening (student and pensioner discounts at the door). Great coffee and refreshments are available at Heaven Coffee at the venue, or why not combine a session with supper and drinks from one of restaurants on the square.
Two mini concerts of classical and jazz under one roof on one night at the Church on Greenmarket Square, Cape Town.
