Students from the French Lycée Jules Verne attend the show "Les Nuits"

On Wednesday 3rd September 2014, the 11th Graders and Cinema Audio-Visual option students attended the exceptional ballet "the Nights", the latest creation of French choreographer, Angelin Preljocaj.

This adaptation of the oriental tale "A thousand and one nights" was the opportunity for students to start the school year with a cultural event. They were able to discover the main character of the tale, Sheherazade, thus described by Prejlocaj "what is amazing in the "A thousand and one nights", is the representation of the character of Sheherazade, who, by her words, her culture and her intelligence, represents a defense against barbarism and questions us about the role of women in our society."

Dazzled by the succession of evocative scenes, the students were also able to think about the language of the body in a performance where every movement is a word.

Mercredi 3 septembre 2014, les élèves des classes de 1ère et de l'option Cinéma-audiovisuel ont pu assister à une représentation exceptionnelle des Nuits, dernière création du chorégraphe Angelin Preljocaj.

Cette adaptation des contes orientaux des Mille et une nuits a été pour nos élèves l'occasion de commencer l'année scolaire sous le signe de la culture, allant à la rencontre de Shéhérazade à propos de laquelle Preljocaj écrit : « ce qui est passionnant dans les Mille et Une Nuits, c'est le dispositif mis en place à travers la figure de Shéhérazade qui par le verbe, la culture et l'intelligence, se dresse comme un rempart à la barbarie et nous questionne sur la place de la femme dans nos sociétés ».

Eblouis par cette succession de tableaux évocateurs, les élèves ont également pu réfléchir à la question du langage des corps dans un spectacle où le geste se fait mot.
