DISCOP Africa 2015 (4-6 Nov): strong French presence at the most important pan-African TV content market

Launched in 2008, DISCOP AFRICA is the most important pan-African film, television programs, adaptation rights and packaged channels market taking place twice a year. Next market will be held in Johannesburg from 4 to 6 of November at the Sandton Convention Center. More than 1,500 international delegates and 200 exhibiting companies are expected to attend - underlining DISCOP Africa’s position as the continent’s most important television programming industry gathering.

This year, over 40 French companies and media groups will be in attendance such as Lagardère and Canal+. A French pavilion will be hosted at the DISCOP under the umbrella of TV France International - the Association of French TV program exporters -, where 9 companies will be represented: Ampersand, France TV distribution, Gaumont Animation, Ladies First Distribution, Lagardère Studios Distribution, Mediatoon Distribution, Millimages, Novovision and Only Lifestyle / Doc Only.

TV France International Pavilion:

  • Ampersand

Founded in 1987, AMPERSAND is a Paris-based production and international distribution company. Our main focus is on producing and distributing television programs for the global market. Following the recent acquisition of the DOCSTAR / EXPLORE library, AMPERSAND’S catalog includes around 2.600 hours of programs, ranging from documentaries, to movie magazines, fiction, music, fillers and sports bloopers. Since 1997, AMPERSAND has diversified into production with approximately 10 documentaries per year. This output completes the company’s catalog of factual programming which stretches from history to cinema, travel, discovery and all kinds of human adventures and social issues.

  • Gaumont Animation

Founded in 1997, Gaumont Animation is a leading, award-winning producer and distributor of children’s entertainment. The company has produced and distributes a catalogue of over 30 kids’ television series and 800 half-hours of animation broadcast in over 130 countries. Flagship titles are Dude that’s my ghost (52×13’), Lanfeust Quest (26×26’), Galactik Football (78×26’), Robotboy (104×13’) and SantApprentice (52×13’ [&] 2 Feature films). The studio is currently in production of 104×13’ new episodes of 50-year old character Calimero.


  • Ladies First Distribution

  • Lagardère Studios Distribution

Lagardère Studios Distributions —the distribution arm of Lagardère Studios, managed by Emmanuelle Bouilhaguet—is one of Europe’s largest distributors of television programs.   • Millimages

Millimages, one of the leading European animation companies, is a fully integrated company with its own distribution, merchandising and video publishing divisions. The company also takes on co-productions and manages distribution for third party productions. Millimages has a strong catalogue including many award winning shows that can be seen on most blue-chip channels all over the world. Today, Millimages has a strong catalogue of over 500 hours. The company has recently developed a true know-how in digital business and new media developments.


  • Novovision
