Visual artist and fashion designer Fred Sathal to participate to the Fashion Week Africa

French visual artist and fashion designer Fred Sathal will come to Johannesburg this spring to feature her show "Constellations" on the catwalk of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa at Melrose Arch, Main Arena, on 25 October. She will also be taking part in the mentoring of the Fast Track competition for young creators winners. Born in 1966, Sathal is a protean artist, whose work as a visual artist is embodied through various identities under which she plays with graphics, design, performing arts and contemporary art (sculpture, installation, mixed media, drawing).

"My works of art, either sartorial, plastic, photographic or graphic, embody the role of energy and has a familiar touch with a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ that gives it a certain strangeness – devoured, twisted, woven, coloured in, embroidered, tattooed, stamped, knotted, mangled.” she says.  A larger retrospective of her work, which includes graphics, design and contemporary art installations, will be held at the Alliance française of Pretoria from 1 November with an official opening at 6.00pm.
