Exposition Homère et l’Océan Indien/ Exhibition Homer and the Indian Ocean

Carla Bocchetti, chercheuse associée à l’IFAS-Recherche, organise du 15 au 30 juin une exposition sur Homère et l’océan Indien au Centre Culturel Franco-Mozambicain (CCFM) à Maputo. L’exposition a ouvert ses portes avec succès la semaine dernière. 

Le but de cette exposition “Homère et l’océan Indien” est de décentrer le regard sur L’Odyssée – texte fondateur de la littérature occidentale – et de réexaminer cette idée très européocentrée qu’il s’agit d’un texte “universel”. Pour ce faire, l’événement organisé au Centre Culturel Franco-Mozambicain propose un dialogue entre le texte homérique et des récits produits sur les rives de l’océan Indien. L’objectif est d’inclure de nouvelles voix et de nouveaux paysages et d’élargir la géographie du poème au-delà des frontières de la mer Méditerranée.  

Carla Bocchetti, Associate Researcher at IFAS-Research, is organising an exhibition on Homer and the Indian Ocean at the Centre Culturel Franco-Mozambicain (CCFM) in Maputo from 15 to 30 June. The exhibition opened successfully last week. 

The aim of the exhibition “Homer and the Indian Ocean” is to decentralise the view of the Odyssey – a founding text of Western literature – and to re-examine the very European-centric idea that it is a “universal” text. To this end, the event organised at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre proposes a dialogue between the Homeric text and stories produced on the shores of the Indian Ocean. The aim is to include new voices and new landscapes and to extend the geography of the poem beyond the borders of the Mediterranean Sea.
