ICA’s 2024 Live Art Festival & Conference – 4-7 September, University of Cape Town

ICA’s 2024 Live Art Festival & Conference

The Institute for Creative Arts (UCT) presents the 2024 Live Art Festival & Conference, from 4 to 7 September 2024, at UCT Hiddingh Campus in Gardens, Cape Town.

Tickets for the Live Art Festival & Conference 2024 are available from R20 via Quicket.

Since 2012, this annual festival proposes its audiences to experience and participate in a live art experience, giving access to works by artists who are pushing the boundaries of form, flouting aesthetic conventions, engaging controversy, confronting audiences, and experimenting with perceptions.

IFAS-Research is proud to be a partner of the event this year.

The 2024 festival & conference focuses on a South-South dialogue to encourage the emergence of a new geo-cultural collaboration, exchange and networking. The program includes:

  • Discussions, talks and lectures by arts academics, producers and curators from South Africa, Brazil, Columbia, Chile, Nigeria, Rwanda, Mozambique, Rwanda and Ghana.
  • Performances by
    • the artist/activist and performance artist Jelili Atiku, engaging audiences about politics, climate change, and social justice;
    • Nelisiwe Xaba, South-African choreographer and performer, addressing the levels of corruption in South Africa, and the impact this has had on the country
    • And many more!
