Sounds of southern Africa: Music, Empowerment, Freedom (2021-2022)

Programme développé par l’IFAS-Recherche et les départements Culture et Audiovisuel de l’IFAS, avec le soutien de l’Institut français Paris, qui explore les liens entre musique, politique, liberté d’expression et censure dans plusieurs pays d’Afrique australe et centrale, du XX^e siècle à nos jours.

Program developed by IFAS-Research and the Culture and Audiovisual Departments of IFAS, with the support of the Institut français Paris, exploring the links between music, politics, freedom of expression and censorship in several countries of southern and central Africa, from the 20th century to the present day.

Reclaiming Waste (2019-2022)

Informality and Covid-19 in South Africa (2020)

Une enquête collective menée par l’IFAS-Recherche et la chercheuse Chaymaa Hassabo (Département de Sociologie de l’Université de Johannesburg), destinée à comprendre les effets socio-économiques de la pandémie sur les travailleur·ses du secteur informel en Afrique du Sud.

A collective research project led by IFAS-Research and Dr Chaymaa Hassabo (Department of Sociology at the University of Johannesburg), aimed at understanding the socio-economic effects of the pandemic on informal workers in South Africa.

Social Scientists’ Views on Covid-19 (2020)

Une série d’analyses “à chaud” de chercheur·ses français·es et africain·es en sciences humaines et sociales sur les conséquences politiques et socio-économiques de la crise du Covid-19, avec de nombreux liens vers des articles de presse ou de revues scientifiques, ainsi que des textes inédits.

A series of reflections by French and African researchers from the social sciences and the humanities on Covid-19, and the social, political and economic dimensions of the crisis, providing links to articles published in the press or in academic blogs, as well as unpublished texts.

A series of portraits of French and African social scientists, reflecting on their lockdown experience and sharing reading tips to better understand the Covid-19 epidemic in Southern Africa.

Sustainability of Rock Art Tourism (2019-2020)

Un programme PROTEA Afrique-du-Sud-France, cofinancé par le Ministère français des Affaires étrangères, le Ministère français de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche, et la National Research Foundation sud-africaine, visant à développer une approche holistique de la conservation des sites d’art rupestre, autour de deux régions : le Drakensberg et le Makgabeng.

A South Africa-France PROTEA research programme, co-funded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, and the South-African National Research Foundation, aiming to develop a holistic approach to the vulnerability of rock art sites, focused on two areas: the Drakensberg and Makgabeng.

The Sterkfontein Caves and Little Foot (2016-2019)

L’équipe de recherche des Grottes de Sterkfontein a reçu de nombreux soutiens institutionels, notamment celui de PAST (The Palaeontological Scientific Trust). L’IFAS-Recherche est fier d’être l’un d’entre eux depuis 2016.

The Sterkfontein Caves Research team has received the support of many institutions, notably PAST (The Palaeontological Scientific Trust). IFAS-Recherche is very proud to be one of them since 2016.  

ANR Globafrica: Reconnecting Africa (2014-2019)

Un projet ANR coordonné par l’IFRA-Nairobi, l’IFRA-Nigeria et l’IFAS-Recherche, visant à repenser l’intégration de l’Afrique aux réseaux mondiaux, avant l’impérialisme européen, d’un point de vue historique.

An ANR programme coordinated by IFRA-Nairobi, IFRA-Nigeria and IFAS-Research, that aims to rethink the global integration of Africa before the European Imperialism from a historical perspective.

ANR UNPEC – Urban National Parks in Emerging Countries and Cities (2012-2018)

Un projet initié en 2012 par l’Université Paris-Nanterre, l’IFRA-Nairobi et l’IFAS-Recherche, visant à évaluer la façon dont les méthodes de gestion des parcs nationaux urbains reflètent les dynamiques de développement des villes du Cap, de Mumbai, Nairobi et Rio de Janeiro.

A project initated in 2012 by University of Paris-Nanterre, IFRA Nairobi and IFAS-Research, aiming to assess how urban national park management methods reflects the level, dynamics and forms of emergence in the cities of Cape Town, Mumbai, Nairobi and Rio de Janeiro.

Yeoville Studio (2010-2012)

Une initiative de recherche et de formation, menée en collaboration avec la Wits School of Architecture and Planning et plusieurs communautés de Yeoville, à Johannesburg.
