Processes linked to today\u2019s globalisation phase have resulted in identity repositioning on every scale. How does this repositioning translate spatially? How is space used to reinforce and justify identity-related affiliation or, on the contrary, to mitigate it?<\/p>\n

These are the many questions which this work tries to partly answer by comparing two major countries of the South: India and South Africa.<\/p>\n

This work is the result of a research programme launched by the Laboratoire G\u00e9otropique (University of Paris X \u2013 Nanterre) and the French Institute of South Africa (Johannesburg). It brought together South African, Indian and French researchers, among whom geographers, sociologists, historians, demographers, anthropologists and political scientists.<\/p>\n
