As part of this project, research was carried out with the San communities living in Platfontein, near Kimberley. The “Places in Me” exhibition project comes from a common desire to gather and make visible the perspectives of young people in Platfontein on their place in South African society, through their viewpoint on the place where they live. Equipped with cameras, they documented aspects of their environment that they considered important, relevant and interesting. Interviews conducted in 2022 collected the authors’ points of view on their pictures.
