Through interviews and film analysis, the articles revisit the conditions of production and reception of these works, from the 1960s to the present day. The question of preservation and access to materials (reels, scripts, public or private archives, on the continent or in the global North), at a time of digitization and debates on the restitution of African cultural heritage, is at the heart of their analysis.

Considered together, the various contributions reveal the ambivalence of Africa’s revolutionary heritage, caught between propaganda, censorship, and legitimate aspirations for both political and cultural emancipation.

Access the issue here

Sources.
