The event gathered around 50 geomorphologists, archaeologists, plaeontologists, plaeoanthropologists from Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique and France, as well as officials from Botswana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conference aimed to present ongoing research projects on the emergence of the <em>Homo<\/em> genus, especially those documented in karst environments in southern and eastern Africa, as well as to highlight the specificities of the Botswana context and to strengthen the regional interdisciplinary research network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This event will be followed by a second international conference in 2026 in Gaborone, and the papers will be published as part of a collective volume.<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 09-11, 2024 Botswana National Museum, Maun As part of the &#8220;Homini\u2019Karst&#8221; Joint Research Programme (2023-2026),&nbsp;Laurent Bruxelles (CNRS \u2013 UMR 5608 TRACES) and the Botswana National Museum organised an international conference on palaeosciences in Botswana, entitled &#8220;Modalities of the Homo-Genus Appearance in Southern Africa Paleokarsts&#8221;.
