Du 6 au 9 juillet 2026, l’IFAS-Recherche et l’IRD en Afrique australe<\/a><\/span> ont particip\u00e9 au congr\u00e8s annuel de la South African Sociological Association (SASA), organis\u00e9 \u00e0 l’Universit\u00e9 du Witwatersrand autour du th\u00e8me Solidarity: Possibilities and Pitfalls<\/em>. Port\u00e9 conjointement par la School of Social Sciences<\/em> de l’Universit\u00e9 du Witwatersrand, l’IRD et l’IFAS-Recherche, le projet Beyond Binaries vise \u00e0 repenser les rapports Sud-Nord dans la production des savoirs. Dans ce cadre, les onze doctorantes et doctorants des universit\u00e9s de Johannesburg, Pretoria et du Witwatersrand, soutenus financi\u00e8rement par l’IFAS-Recherche et l’IRD, ainsi qu’une vingtaine de chercheurs issus des sciences sociales, ont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9, au sein de huit panels, des communications proposant un retour r\u00e9flexif sur leurs terrains d’enqu\u00eate. Les pr\u00e9sentations ont abord\u00e9 des th\u00e9matiques vari\u00e9es, telles que les migrations, les restitutions fonci\u00e8res post-apartheid, les archives coloniales, les usages des plateformes num\u00e9riques ou encore les mobilit\u00e9s et les fronti\u00e8res. Les communications pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es lors de ces panels feront l’objet d’un num\u00e9ro Varia<\/em> de la revue Lesedi, \u00e0 para\u00eetre en 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 6\u20139, 2026, IFAS-Research<\/span> and <\/span>IRD<\/span> in Southern Africa<\/span><\/a><\/span> took part in the annual conference of the South African Sociological Association (SASA), hosted by the University of the Witwatersrand under the theme <\/span><\/span>Solidarity: Possibilities and Pitfalls<\/span><\/span>. Jointly led by the <\/span>Wits School of Social Sciences<\/span>, <\/span>IRD and IFAS-Research, the Beyond Binaries project <\/span>seeks<\/span> to rethink <\/span>South-North<\/span> relations in knowledge <\/span>production.<\/span> As part of the project, eleven PhD candidates from the Universities of Johannesburg, <\/span>Pretoria<\/span> and <\/span>the Witwatersrand<\/span>, <\/span>supported by IFAS-Research and the IRD, together with <\/span>twenty <\/span>social sciences <\/span>researchers<\/span>, presented papers across eight panels offering reflexive accounts of their fieldwork. Their presentations addressed a wide range of topics, including migration, post-apartheid land restitution, colonial archives, digital platforms, and mobility and borders. The papers presented during these panels will be published in a special <\/span><\/span>Varia<\/span><\/span> issue of Lesedi in 2027.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
