Le 27 ao\u00fbt 2026, Joel Quirk, professeur de sciences politiques \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 du Witwatersrand, organise la table ronde <\/span>Keeping Safe(r): Developing Better Policies and Strategies for Doing Fieldwork Safely<\/span><\/i>, dans le cadre du projet Beyond Binaries. Cette rencontre r\u00e9unit des chercheurs issus de diff\u00e9rentes disciplines des sciences humaines et sociales afin de r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir aux moyens de garantir la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et le bien-\u00eatre des chercheurs lors de leurs enqu\u00eates de terrain. Parmi les intervenants figurent Keketso Peete, b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaire d\u2019une bourse Beyond Binaries, et Laurent Vidal (IRD). Les \u00e9changes portent notamment sur les enjeux li\u00e9s \u00e0 la pr\u00e9paration des terrains sensibles, aux vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9s des chercheurs, \u00e0 leur positionnement sur le terrain, ainsi qu\u2019aux dispositifs institutionnels n\u00e9cessaires pour mieux accompagner la recherche en contexte complexe.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On 27 August 2026, Joel Quirk, Professor of Political Science at the University of the Witwatersrand, organises the roundtable <\/span>Keeping Safe(r): Developing Better Policies and Strategies for Doing Fieldwork Safely<\/span><\/i> as part of the Beyond Binaries project. The event brings together researchers from different disciplines across the humanities and social sciences <\/span>to reflect on how to ensure the safety and wellbeing of researchers during fieldwork<\/span>. Speakers include Keketso Peete, a Beyond Binaries fellow, and Laurent Vidal (IRD). Discussions focus on key issues related to preparing for challenging fieldwork, researchers\u2019 vulnerabilities and positionality, as well as the institutional support mechanisms needed to better accompany research conducted in complex environments.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
