Well before she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1991, Nadine Gordimer was better known as a white anti-apartheid South African activist. The fight against apartheid never stopped being an absolute priority for her. Yet she is aware of the paradox that consists, for a White, in fighting side by side with the Blacks.
